A quick homemade taco seasoning blend that replaces store-bought packets and keeps well for months.
This DIY taco seasoning blend is a flexible, pantry-friendly mix you can use for tacos, taco soup, taco salad, or to season roasted and sautéed vegetables. It’s special because you can control the salt and heat level (including an optional pinch of red pepper flakes) and customize the paprika (smoked paprika adds extra depth). Mix it in minutes, then store in an airtight container or spice jar so it’s ready whenever you need it; it keeps for up to 6 months.
In a small bowl, add all of the taco seasoning ingredients.
Stir to combine and store homemade taco seasoning in an airtight container or spice jar for up to 6 months.

This recipe makes 3 Tbsp of seasoning or the equivalent of 1 packet of taco seasoning.
