A quick, savory-sweet dumpling dipping sauce with soy, vinegar, chili oil, garlic, and sesame.

This fast, no-cook dumpling dipping sauce balances salty soy sauce, tangy rice vinegar, a hint of sweetness, and nutty sesame with a touch of heat from chili oil. It’s perfect for serving alongside freshly cooked homemade or store-bought dumplings, potstickers, or even as a drizzle for noodles and rice bowls. For best flavor, fully dissolve the sugar in the hot water first so the sauce tastes smooth and evenly seasoned; you can also let it sit a few minutes before serving to allow the garlic and sesame to infuse.

  • 1 Tbsp, 1 tsp sugar
  • 14 cup hot water
  • 1 Tbsp, 1 tsp sugar

Dissolve the sugar in the hot water.

  • 12 cup soy sauce
  • 1 Tbsp, 1 tsp rice vinegar
  • 1 Tbsp, 1 tsp chili oil
  • 1 Tbsp, 1 tsp garlic, minced
  • 1 Tbsp, 1 tsp toasted sesame seeds
  • 2 tsp sesame oil
  • 12 cup soy sauce
  • 1 Tbsp, 1 tsp rice vinegar
  • 1 Tbsp, 1 tsp chili oil
  • 1 Tbsp, 1 tsp garlic, minced
  • 1 Tbsp, 1 tsp toasted sesame seeds
  • 2 tsp sesame oil

Then add soy sauce, rice vinegar, chili oil, minced garlic, sesame seeds, and sesame oil. Stir to combine.

Serve with freshly cooked dumplings and enjoy!
