Blackberry Apple Crisp

A classic home-baked dessert combining blackberries and apples with a crispy oat topping.

  • 1 12 cups (220 g) blackberries
  • 1 12 cups apples, peeled and sliced

Combine blackberries and apples in a glass baking dish.

  • 1 12 tsp (7 g) lemon juice

Sprinkle with lemon juice.

  • 2 Tbsp, 2 tsp to 14 cup (33 to 50 g) sugar
  • 1 12 tsp (4 g) all-purpose flour

Combine granulated sugar and flour, sprinkle over fruit and gently toss with a fork.

  • 12 cup (62 g) all-purpose flour
  • 12 cup (110 g) brown sugar
  • 12 cup (40 g) quick-cooking oats
  • 12 tsp (2 g) baking powder
  • 12 tsp (1 g) ground cinnamon
  • 18 tsp (1 g) salt
  • 14 cup (57 g) butter

Combine flour, brown sugar, oats, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt. With a fork, then fingertips, blend the butter into the flour mixture to form coarse crumbs. Sprinkle over fruit.

Bake at 350F for 45 minutes until apples are tender.

Notes
  • You can substitute other fruits, such as strawberries, raspberries, rhubarb, etc.
